Annual Castrol EDGE Gold Coast 600
Featuring the worlds top V8 Supercar drivers, this is one event that you shouldnt miss.? Watch and support your favourite drivers as they battle the toughest street circuit to claim the title of the Gold Coast 600 this year.
This is the by far the biggest party on the Gold Coast. Happening October 24 -26, this is an action-packed program featuring several popular events that were showcased in the inaugural festival last year.
The Minister of Tourism has confirmed that the Queensland government has entered a partnership with V8 Supercars to ensure the V8 Superfest continues this year with a host of new events that are guaranteed to blow your mind. One highlight of V8 Superfest is GC Paint Pit; a celebration of urban art, which involves digital, urban, and visual artists who will transform the laneways and walls into contemporary pieces of art throughout Superfest. Theres also Miss V8 Supercars, V8 Billycart Derby, Club 600 day club within the track, Party Nights and WAGS 600, which features the wives and the girlfriends of Gold Coast 600 drivers race against each other.
With all the scheduled events and races, including top performances by night, this is going to be a weekend of amazing entertainment the whole family can enjoy. The event takes place at Surfers Paradise Foreshore, The Esplanade.

2015 ITU World Triathlon Series
Another Gold Coast attraction added to the event calendar for next year is the ITU World Triathlon Series following a successful bid by the State Government. This achievement makes Queensland the only Australian location to be featured on the 2015 World ITU calendar alongside Chicago and London. ITU World Triathlon is currently the worlds leading platform that promotes a more active lifestyle. Having the largest and world best age-group events, it crowns the world champions and provides the best elite competition in term of prize money and of course, quality. This event is held on April 10-12, 2015, perfect weather if youre planning to visit the Gold Coast for this event.
2018 Commonweath Games
Held concurrently with the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Series and only second in stature to the Olympics, are the 2018 Commonwealth Games, hosted by the Gold Coast between April 4 to 15 2018. Among the sports that will be competed include athletics, mountain biking, rugby, road cycling, netball, gymnastics, basketball, triathlon, and swimming. There will also be racewalking, marathon, hockey, diving, squash, weightlifting, boxing, and shooting.
The Commonwealth Games is one of the largest Gold Coast attractions over the last few decades and is set to attract 6500 athletes and team officials & 3000 photographers and journalists alone, and with 1.5 million tickets available (gc2018.com) it sure to attract tens of thousands of patriotic sports fans from around the globe.
A recent article from the Gold Coast Bulletin stated The city is expecting the no occupancy sign to be out on the 142,000 available rooms for the two weeks in April 2018, with residents also looking to rent out their homes to accommodate visitors. With this in mind, April will be a very popular holiday period so if you plan to visit during this period it would be wise to start arranging your travel plans today.

Supanova Gold Coast Pop Culture Expo
Another Gold Coast attraction for April 2015 which starts just as the Commonwealth Games wrap up is the Supanova Gold Coast Pop Culture Expo. This is the regions premier Pop Culture expo where you can come face to face with your favourite Supa-Star celebrities. Here, youll be surrounded by the wonderful worlds of animation, comic books, science-fiction, toys, pulp TV/movies, console gaming, fantasy, trading cards, fan clubs, entertainment technology, and of course, internet sites. This event, which is perfect for the whole family, will take place on April 17-19 at Gold Coast Convention Centre, Broadbeach. If youre coming to the Gold Coast specifically for any of these events, know that there are other Gold Coast attractions that you can explore while youre here to maximise your stay. The Gold Coast is defined by its hinterland ranges, spectacular beaches, vibrant communities, waterways, and well-preserved forests so you will not run out of things to see and do. If youre bringing your family, I suggest that you stay in Surfers Paradise, which is close to all upcoming events. Here, youll get easy access to wonderful beaches and youll be in close proximity to other Gold Coast attractions including shopping & dining districts, bars & pubs, wellness centres, and of course, a number of great theme parks.
The Gold Coast is also famous for its local attractions and theme parks. Whether youre looking for heart-stopping ride or spending the day at a waterpark with your mates of children, you can be sure that the Gold Coast has something for everyone. As a local, I can say that youve never fully experienced the Gold Coast unless you visit at least one of the Gold Coast attractions on offer.
